Marty leads our team of litigators, and has prosecuted, investigated and defended a broad variety of regulatory offences over the last two decades. Foremost among these offences are tax prosecutions, financial reporting cases, fisheries frauds, radio communications, bio security, wildlife regulations breaches and motor vehicle sales cases.
When prosecuting for the Crown Solicitor’s Office in Christchurch, Marty worked closely with Inland Revenue Department in-house lawyers and investigators to lead jury and judge-alone trials, sentencings and other tax-related prosecution work. In later roles, including Robinson Legal, Marty has routinely defended individuals and entities charged with tax and other types of fraud. His experience prosecuting fraud, particularly at the jury trial level, provide his clients with penetrating insights into the drivers and levers of the prosecuting department.
